Our First Submission!	Dear Bloggies: It's time to talk turkey. Take a look at the first submission for our call for designs by Paula McKeever. Thank you Paula! These fingerless gloves are knit from Sockittome Select in Green Mountain Madness in a nice lace pattern. If you have anything to submit please do so asap to win $200. 	Here's some more turkey talk: We have had so many inquiries about the Cherry Tree Hill January Sale, that it is time to let the turkey out of the bag. Once again the sale will begin at midnight New Year's Eve and be online only. Three stores have asked to host the sale and we are negotiating with them right now. We can tell you that prizes this year include 200 Goodie bags with donations from your favorite companys.
	One Goodie Bag will contain a get out of jail free yarn coupon--we will refund your credit card purchases during the sale no matter how much or how little you buy. More on this later! This is our 9th annual sale and it is going to be a great one, with books, dvds, kits, yarns and specially dyed mill ends just for you. We will post on Ravelry as the sale gets closer. Vote On New Designs for Cherry Tree Hill

Dear Bloggies:

Thanks so much for your enthusiastic response to our Call for Designs.  As your original designs come in we will post our favorites for you to vote on.  That's right; we're going to let you decide!  
Maybe you think you are a designer and maybe you don't but the truth is that there is a little designer in all of us.  We are accepting 5 designs total, each pay out is $150-200 plus we will replace the yarn used.  Any projects not accepted will be sent back to you at our expense.

To whet your appetite, I'm going to post a few of my works in progress here on my blog and on Ravelry. Here are a pair of Glittens I am designing--the first pair came out with 2 right hands, probably because I was watching the Presidential Debates at the time--so I have the original right hand and now I am attempting the left, this time REVERSING ALL SHAPING.

Another thing I am trying is knitting two pair of socks at the same time with Sock Duos.   I want to see just how closely they resemble each other without me fudging rows or colors.

 Here is a pair of cabled fingerless gloves knit by Paula McKeever that we are expecting in this week.  I can't wait to try them on!

Behind the Scenes at Stitches East

Dear Bloggies:

What fun we had at Stitches East. This time our web guy, Ryan (which he reminds us is yarn spelled sideways) came with, so we have many photos to share.

Of course the fashion show was fabulous. We had three garments on the runway: our Mitered Afghan, the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and a new Alpaca cardigan which will be featured in the new issue of knitters. If you want the pattern or yarn for any of these, we can find stores that carry them for you.
We met up with many friends from the UK including Gerard and Craig of I Knit London who were here to check out American yarns. They loved Stitches and would like to have a show in London themselves next year. Count us in!

 Also our  hand dyer friend Eirwen stopped by with Jane Sowerby who wrote Victorian Lace Today. Eirwen knit a great purple shawl from Jane's book and let me model it but not keep it. I offered her any of our new designs even the Rings of Supersock in trade, but she said no. We are so sorry we had so few patterns for Rings. If you want it or any other pattern please let us know.

The show was so cold that we were forced to don our own garments to stay warm. Ryan liked the Kimono and the Brick by Brick hat while I favored the Mitered Jacket and the Scrappy Set hat. We also poked fun at our sponsor-mates Kollage Yarns who spent so much time away from their booth that we decided to take their yarn trees for ourselves. At first they didn't notice which was funny in itself. Then they thought someone had stolen all that yarn and they panicked. We thought it looked nice in our booth.

We had lots of fun with Indie Dyers Jenna and Erica and the girls from DBNY (discontinued brand name yarn). Thanks to Judy Baldwin for the great wraps each lunchtime and for Robin who helped out at the CTH booth with us. If there was anything of ours you wanted but could not find at Stitches we are sorry--almost everything sold out the first two days--please let us know via email. Although we are wholesale only we can certainly direct you to a store that carries our items.

Handpaint Halloween Cherry Style

Dear Bloggies:

 

As usual it took us about 2 days to get ready for the Halloween party at Cheryl and Terry's house.  We closed early on Friday for pumpkin carving, spider web hanging, candy buying and barn decorating.  Oh, yes and we had to build a bonfire on the front lawn!

 

Trick or treaters started showing up at the early hour of 4 pm and didn't stop traipsing up the driveway until after 9!  We had chocolate eyeballs and minty candy maggots for the little kids and nachos and tacos plus beer and margaritas for the big kids.

 

Cheryl was her usual witchy self and Terry wore his same red neck attire while some of the employees and friends were more imaginative.

 

Here's Amber with her two little girls dressed as a princess--you may only know Amber as a voice on the phone who takes your orders and ships your packages

 

Here's a variety of very scary (isn't that a colorway?) late nightsters, even Zorro himself with his mask and whip but where's his horse? 

 

We had over 200 trick or treaters and somehow the evening and the bonfire wound down without even making smores even though we cut sticks and remembered the marshmallows.  Oh well, there's always next year.

 

We're leaving for Stitches East tomorrow.  See you there?
