Cherry Christmas Everyone!

Dear Bloggies:

Wishing you a Cherry Christmas this week is Terry driving the Cherry Tree Hill Wagon around town here in Barton, Vermont.  You can't miss his big boys Doc and Otis or even miss hearing them with all those jingle bells on their harnesses!  We've had so much snow and school cancellations that  Terry has taken to giving wagon rides to places like the grocery store and the bank.  And of course he'll be here with bells on Christmas Eve to give rides during our annual Christmas party.

More Design Submissions

Also just in is a very elegant pair of "Tealight Fingerless Gloves" in foxy Lady from Brittany Wilson

Guide to the January Sale

Dear Bloggies:

Thanks so much for your questions and comments regarding our January Sale.  This past week we have been working on the colorway guide one of you suggested.  Each of our 33 colorways is photographed and described with the original text.  Photos are of Organic DK sock yarn, allowing you to compare colorways as they look on the same base yarn  This page will be available throughout the sale.

As for a format, we suggest you use the Discontinued Brand Name Yarn Newsletter as a map.  We will keep updating it as the sale progresses.  The sale is arranged by category and the categories are:Indie Yarns,Yarn Buy the Bag, Books and DVDs, Kits, Yarn Packs, Maple Syrup, Mill End Yarn, Overstock Yarns, Sock Yarn, Lace Yarn, British Mohair Semi Solids and more! We have no pattern category this year as most of the patterns are free downloads or contained in a kit.

The first two hundred of you will get prizes in the form of Goodie Bags filled with yarns, patterns and accessories.  Some bags even contain magazines and kits.  One bag has a January Sale free card.  If you get the card, contact us and we will credit your Mastercard or Visa for whatever you spent during the sale no matter how much it was.  Our Labor Day Sale winner got $200 worth of yarn free.

We have received another design submission! This time it’s an adorable pair of English Country  Garden Fingerless Gloves submitted by Janine Le Cras. Great job Janine, and to the rest of you, we can’t wait to see your submissions! (you are working on one right?!)

Our Possum Sock yarn has come in and I am already at work on a sock knit from African Grey.I am hoping to get the socks done and the pattern written by the time the sale starts so that you can have the pattern free along with the broken lots from our first run of Possum Sock. Did I mention how much I love Possum Sock yarn? I love it, love it, love it!

Weekend Warriors

    Dear Bloggies:

    This weekend web guy Ryan and I went shopping in Burlington.  Burlington is 2 hours away from where we live, and no there is no highway to get there from here in the Northeast Kingdom.
We don’t like going to Burlington which is where the airport is, but we had to because we bought a camera online (no other choice really) and it did not come with a memory card for Ryan to take photos of things like design submissions.

So I got in my Hummer and drove a half hour to Ryan's house to pick him up and then we drove to Burlington which was 2 more hours because we had to go through Stowe (which is a ski town) and consequently we ran into many flatlanders.  In Burlington, I found the Circuit City okay and we got the camera stuff we needed but then I got lost in the Industrial Park because it is just so much bigger than it was the last time I went there.

We decided to go downtown to eat Sushi; which we never get at all where we live.  There is one Sushi restaurant in Vermont and it is in Burlington.  The hardest part about going downtown was getting into the parking garage without tearing the roof rack off the Hummer.  We did not have any clearance to speak of and whenever we saw the concrete headers through the sun roof we would duck even though they were above the car.

Ryan bought some nice clothes to wear to TNNA and I bought some stuff from Bath and Body Works, another store I never get to go to unless I happen to be passing through the Detroit Airport, which is not often.

We finally got back from Burlington about 10 pm and we don't think we need to go there again until we have to go to the airport to get to TNNA.

                Design Submissions are trickling in!

This past week we have received two hats designed from Select yarns.
The first one is knit from Supersock DK Select with a jester motif created from triangles and bobbles.  Very cute!  It is knit in the coloway Wild Cherry and comes in a large range of sizes.  Shown here is the toddler size.  This hat was submitted by Sylvia Cannizzaro who lives right here in Vermont.  Thank you Sylvia!

The second hat just arrived today and is knit from Supersock Select in the colorway Caribou Creek.  It is very nicely executed and knit with a sideways cable on the brim by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen who owns a weaving studio called Heirlooms.  Lis is one of our good customers and we knew she was a great weaver, but we did not know she could design knitwear as well.  Yay Lis!

If you or anyone you know wants to submit to win $200, there is still plenty of time.  How about something knit from Sockittome?  Mittens?  Gloves?  A smoke ring?  Send ‘em in!

Cherry Tree Hill January Sale

As we continue our Call for Designs, we realize that not only is Christmas right around the corner, so is our annual January Sale! Thanks to our stores for your offers of sponsorship. Our December colorway is called Silent Night and is meant to pair nicely with our limited edition December solid Cornflower. If you would like either of these colors, please let us know and we will locate a store for you that carry them. Only 200 Cornflowers were dyed and only 500 Silent Nights will be. These make great gifts for those who love the hardest to get sock yarns!

We have heard that hats and socks will soon join our Call for Designs. Remember that we are paying $200 per design and we are letting you decide which ones you like best. Send in anything you can knit from one hank of Select sock yarn. If you need a hank to get started, let us know.
